Crate Training – A Safe Space
Puppies may resist being in a crate, but it’s important for their safety. Start by making the crate a positive place. Use food to lure them inside, and give them their meals in the crate. Moreover, allot at least 5 minutes a day for a full focused training session wherein you feed their kibbles one by one while inside their crate. This signals that good things happen the longer they stay inside their crates.
Potty Training – Less Chores for You!
Puppies have small bladders and need frequent potty breaks. Set up a routine and take your puppy to their potty spot every hour, especially after eating or drinking. Stay with them for 10-15 minutes to give them time to go. It takes patience, but it will save you from a messy house!
Basic Commands
Start with these 7 essential commands: Sit, Down, Stay, Come, Heel, Off (to discourage lunging), and Leave It. While professional trainers are helpful, bonding with your pup through personal training will strengthen your relationship. The good news is, there are lots of videos online that offer a step-by-step guide on how to teach these to your pup. Go ahead and try it! You’ll be surprised at how much of a good trainer you are.
Nutrition – Start with Grain-Free
Puppies require a sufficient diet that can give them optimal energy. Just like humans, they also draw their energy from carbohydrates. And just like humans, a good quality source of food will bring their nutrition to the extra mile.
Aside from avoiding grain allergies, premium grain-free formulations like Petchola True only use high quality carbohydrates from potatoes, cassava, and beats. These are more digestible, thus providing more energy, in comparison to the common sources of carbohydrates like corn, wheat and rice.
Raising a puppy takes effort, but the love and loyalty you’ll receive in return will be more than worth it. Enjoy the journey! 🐾
